About Your Captain

A few words about your captain, Captain Jim Egan. Jim is a Massachusetts Maritime Academy graduate and has been working in the maritime, engineering, and fishing industry for 30-plus years. He has held his commercial fishing license for Tuna, Striped Bass, and Bluefish for a number of years. Jim came to the Cape during his Academy years and has never really left. He has a home on the Cape that he uses all summer long and frequents numerous times during the winter months.

Jim loves to fish. He’s well-skilled at many methods of fishing including bottom fishing, trolling, sight casting, and using live bait. Basically, any method that lands the fish.

He was introduced to fishing at the age of 18 when he was in college on cape cod and fishing became a big part of his life. Twelve years ago, he and his wife bought a home on the Cape and he has been fishing nonstop ever since.

In Jim’s own words; “I love being out on the water and I love the challenge of fishing. I thrive on targeting specific species of fish and being successful at it. I really enjoy bringing other people out for a day on the water and sharing the uniqueness of what the Cape and Islands have to offer in terms of fishing opportunities.”

About the Boat

The boat that you’ll be fishing on is a 2014 Steiger Craft 26′ Miami DV. The DV means deep V hull so you’ll have a really smooth ride and the boat cuts through the waves with ease. Powered by twin 2020, Yamaha 4-stroke 300 H.P. engines which produce a cruising speed of about 35 knots. You’ll find that captain Egan likes to push the boat to full speed so that you get to the fishing grounds quickly and not waste time on a boat ride.

There is ample room and comfortable seating for up to six, including the crew. There is an onboard head as well. All the comforts of home.

Equipped with the latest in electronics including a ship-to-shore radio, emergency EPIRB, and a 6-person auto inflatable raft for emergencies. The fish can’t hide anywhere, not with twin multifunctional display units that include charting, fish finder, and radar.
